Young Pianist Institute

With Randall Faber • July 15-16

The Young Pianists Institute provides an opportunity for students and teachers to broaden their musical understanding of the intermediate repertoire. The Institute features nationally recognized pedagogue Randall Faber who excels at working with young people at this level. In addition to delivering two lectures, he will work with several different participants developing musical concepts and performance skills. The public is encouraged to observe all sessions of the Institute as auditors.

Lecture: The ABCs of Artistry

In this lecture-performance Mr. Faber presents key aspects of musical expression in a practical framework for enhancing artistry. This session features standard intermediate repertoire.

Lecture: Technique: Right from the Start

This session explores sequence and stages in developing effective piano technique. Highly practical, the presentation includes video footage for a close-up look at untangling problems and laying a path toward technical prowess.

Performers

The Young Pianists Institute is limited to 10 performers. The tuition of $25 includes personalized master class sessions with Mr. Randall Faber and admission to all other classes and lectures of the Young Pianists Institute. The Young Pianists Institute is open to pianists of all ages, but repertoire is limited to pieces consistent with Levels II through VI of the Oregon Music Teachers Association Syllabus.
