HAROLD GRAY
ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
Harold Gray retired from Portland State University as Professor on Music in 2005 after serving on the faculty there since 1977. Prior to joining the faculty of PSU he was Chair of the Piano Division at Illinois State University. As pianist of the Florestan Trio, Artists-in-Residence at the university, he performed throughout the United States and in Europe and Asia. He has performed in numerous summer festivals on both coasts and in Europe. For four seasons he brought French and American musicians together for chamber music concerts in the villages of Southwest France. Harold has been heard on National Public Radio and Television,
and has recorded for Orion, Desmar and Advent-Europe. In addition to
teaching and performing, Harold enjoys working on environmental issues.
PAT ZAGELOW
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Pat Zagelow was drawn to the field of arts management in 1991 where she could combine her love of music with her ten years’ experience as the owner of a small business devoted to the manufacture of children’s clothing and gifts. Since 1991, she has worked as Executive Director of Friends of Chamber Music and Portland Piano International (formerly the PSU Piano Recital Series), and was Executive Director of the Oregon Repertory Singers from 1995-1998. She also managed the Portland-based chamber ensemble, The Florestan Trio, for several years. Ms. Zagelow completed a Bachelor of Music degree at PSU in 1991, graduating with high honors. While at Portland State University, she worked as coordinator of the Music Committee, responsible for producing 60 Brown Bag concerts each year.
LORI FITCH
OPERATIONS MANAGER
Lori Fitch joined the staff of Friends of Chamber Music and Portland Piano International (formerly the Piano Recital Series) in September of 1996. A native New Yorker, Lori served as a neonatal nurse specialist in Virginia before she was “imported” to Oregon by Intel Corporation, where she held the position of senior software test engineer for seven years. After experiencing the cubicle life, Lori became a music major at PSU; she sings and plays wind instruments with the Oregon Renaissance Band. Besides pursuing her music career, Lori spends time with her family – husband and three boys, two in Portland (grown up) and one in college (not so much!) – and on her bicycle.
DAPHNE CLIFTON
OFFICE COORDINATOR
Daphne joined Portland Piano International and Friends of Chamber Music in 2006. After earning an MA in biology, she worked as a hydrologist, taxonomist, and ecologist before retiring to raise her son (he's now studying music and science at UW). She honed her technical writing skills at PCC (and explored art, music, and creative writing there), and her support-staff talents at OHSU, before embracing her new career in the Arts. Daphne discovered the Neuman's Renaissance music classes at the Community Music Center in 1982, and joined Oregon Renaissance Band in 1992 — a "thrill of a lifetime" was performing at Regensburg's Early Music Festival in 1998. She performs on recorder, rackett, corna musen, curtal, and pennywhistle.
